Customer Evaluations
These BRK smoke alarms have issued alarms twice now, which lasted several hours each and every and resulted in lost perform time. Initially, two of these would beep each and every minute and nothing at all I tried would cease it, so I had them replaced, and then these seemed to be OK, but practically just about every night we would hear a 1 second alarm. Then two weeks later, the alarms went off steady and absolutely nothing we attempted would silence or reset them. We even had the gas enterprise come out to check the gas applicances for CO2, considering the fact that two of the units also had the CO2 detectors built in, but everything checked out fine, so I just started unplugging the units till the alarms stopped. A handful of days later, the remaining 3 alarms that I still had connected began a different false alarm and ultimately stopped. I do not have time to put up with problems like this, and it can result in not even believing your smoke alarms, when it might possibly be a genuine fire! I only bought these given that they were plug compatible with the Initial Alert, but I will have to rewire the plug and invest in a much better good quality brand.
My home came wired with about 12 of these with the battery back-up. Considering the fact that the 9 volt battery is supposed to power the complete technique when electrical energy is lost they should be replaced pretty regularly. They test at about 8.25 volts when necessary to be replaced. I have purchased a couple of these non-battery units to replace the ones in the cathedral ceiling that calls for a ladder to replace and will invariably start chirping at 2am on a cold winters morning. I have also replace the one particular in our unheated attic which suffers the similar fate.
As long as I can get to the unit I will stick with the battery back-ups but for those tricky to reach locations these electric models as a better option.
